6/29/09 Haro Wine Festival - La Rioja
Haro, as the rest of La Rioja, is a borderland. In the past it was inhabited by berones. During the romanization of the Iberian Peninsula, it is known about the "Castrum Bilibium" existence, in The Shells on Ebro river, opposite to Salinillas de Buradon. San Braulio, Zaragoza's obispe, when in VII century wrote about San Millan's life, mentioned this castle.
The historical foundation day of Haro village was around X century. In 117, Haro is donated by Alfonso VI of Castilla to Diego Lopez, Lord of Vizcaya, for his support in the war against Aragonese king.
