Mosel Wine Festivals (weekends, April-November – annually – various towns along Mosel River)
During the summer, many of the towns lining the river Mosel hold their annual Wine Festivals. For several days life takes place on the streets, local wine and food is served all day and music is in the air. Even the smallest Mosel town will hold a wine festival at some point during the year and in the summer you are very likely to find a festival every weekend. Some of the bigger and well-known celebrations include Pünderich (18-20 May), Cochem (6-10 June), Zell (10-13 June), Traben-Trarbach (8-9 July) and Bernkastel-Kues (17-19 August).

Hochheim Market Festival (beginning of November – annually – Hochheim am Main)
Four hundred thousand visitors stream to the town of Hochheim am Main, near Frankfurt, for the annual fair and market, one of the most popular in the area. With its location near the famous vineyards of the Rheingau, it's hardly surprising that the 500 year-old festival also attracts 60 vintners' stands, offering predominantly white wines and Sekt (sparkling wine). On Friday and Saturday evenings, large tastings attract 1000 wine lovers. Craft and food stands abound, while typical fairground rides offer a break from wine tasting.
