3/2010 - Melbourne Food and Wine Festival – Melbourne
Melbourne Food and Wine's key annual event is the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. The Festival commenced in 1993 with a simple program of 12 events. Since its inception it has grown annually, with the 2008 Festival encompassing 220 events over a 16 day period. The Festival attracts, on an annual basis, food and wine experts from across the world, including world-renowned chefs and winemakers, growers, purveyors, authors, food and wine commentators and critics to present alongside some of Australia's best.

The annual Wine and Waves Festival is in its third year and is set to be bigger and better than ever with participating wineries including Margan Family Wines, Robyn Drayton Wines, Hungerford Hill and McWilliams Mt Pleasant, among others. Rutherglen will once again be the place to be on the June long weekend for the annual Rutherglen Winery Walkabout.
From the beginnings in 1974 when the Winemakers' of North East Victoria joined forces to promote their quality wines, the festival has grown in size and stature. Rutherglen Winery Walkabout now attracts over 20,000 visitors and boasts three Tourism Awards including "Best Festival in Victoria" and was also named "Best Festival in Australia".
